November 2013 Kit Reveal

HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone!!  It poured last night, so I am hoping that means the storm has moved on because I have bowls of candy to hand out to my trick-or-treators.  I can't wait!! I love handing out candy and seeing all those cute kids dressed up.  I live in one of those neighborhoods where car loads of kids get dropped off to come through the neighborhood.  Because it's a school night, I'm expecting the kids to start coming by early, so I'm taking off work a little early.  :)

Now on to the kit reveal!!  The November kit features My Mind's Eye, Lost & Found, Record It papers.  They are so gorgeous!!  I've mixed in a few Studio Calico wood veener pieces, some Prima Ingvild Bolme Junkyard Findings Heart Gears and May Arts lace and wax cording, and lets not forget the lovely MME chipboard sheet and a few other goodies.  The kit is in the store and ready to purchase here

Family Photo Layout - October Kit #2

Here is a layout I created with the October 2013 Our Story Kit #2, which features Webster's Pages Family Traditions papers.  I really had a fun time creating the layered frame and decorating the pocket.  I used a piece of a priority box to layer my photo on.  I punched a hole at the top of the Maya Road kraft tags and inked the edges, then I cut a length of the orange lace and ripped it in half lengthwise to give it a more rustic feel, they are tucked in behind the pocket for hidden journaling.  I added a few splashes of white acrylic paint and some My Mind's Eye Enamel dots for just a spot of color on the background.  I also tinted the yellow foam alphas with just a bit of Tea Dye Distressed Ink by Tim Holtz.

Thanks for stopping by.  Oh yeah...be on the look out for  a sneak peek at November's kit which will be posted later today.  :)

Miss Holly

Hi everyone, I am sharing a layout I made with you today using the Tres Belle Kit #1.  This layout is about the sweetest little fur baby my daughter was recently given.   My daughter named her Holly, and she is just so adorable.  I used a paper punch to punch the edges of Petaloo flower petals to give them a softer look.  I also used Ranger's Glossy Accents on the chipboard buttons, love how they turned out.

Thanks for stopping by and taking look.

Sara's final project with the September Kit

Hi everyone, here is my final layout using the September kit.   I just love creating lots of layers using all of the die cuts and fun chipboard pieces.  I found the wooden veneer card was the perfect spot to create a title.  For the background I used Side B of the "Word Up" paper and turned it upside down to take advantage of the fun colorful border strip along the bottom of the papers.  The Daily Routine border strip is from the backside of the "On the Edge" paper.  I placed it at an angel across the top of the page to give the layout a little movement.  I then stenciled a design using modeling paste and a few drops of green water color paint to add a little pop of color.  I created this layout about my daughter who has a very big decision to make about leaving her home, family, friends and most importantly her boyfriend (hopefully soon to be finance) to attend school in another state for a couple of years to get her Master's Degree.

Thnaks for stopping by to take a look, I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.

More September Projects!

Hi there, I'm back to share the rest of my layouts using the wonderful September kit from LRS. Did I mention how nicely coordinated this kit is?  I think it's one of my favorite kits so far!

This first layout is of our friends' daughter, Olivia.  It has a lot of embellishment layering and machine stitching and I let the background patterned paper do most of the work for me!

Layout number two is of me taken during my very first half marathon earlier this year.  I don't often add memorabilia items to my layouts but I decided to add my number to commemorate the occasion.  This is one of those bucket list items that I can check off that I may never do again! I altered the alphas with paint to match them to my layout.

My final layout "Family volleyball champs" is of my sister-in-laws and friends taken at a family get-together last summer.  Whenever we're all together there's always some sort of competition between the guys and gals.  This time it happened to be a volleyball game that gals won...well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Anyway, more stitching, more embellishment layering, and more altered letters on this layout.  So much fun!

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share the rest of my layouts with you!  Don't forget to stop by the LRS store and pick up a September kit before they're all sold out!!

Getting Real

Sometimes, scrapping isn't just about getting the "pretty" and "safe" moments on the pages.  It's about being real, telling a story and sharing a memory.  In this case, I am sharing a layout I made with the September kit about my daughter's sad night of homework at 9:30pm.  The homework has definitely increased for her in middle school and on this day, she just didn't manage her time well after school, which led to a 9:30pm meltdown of epic proportions.  Sigh.  So I created this layout to remind her that she has to take care of her responsibilities and that even though it may be hard, she can do it!

The only thing I added was a little mist and the letters "bad" everything else was in the kit, even the cute cellophane baggie and washi tape that closed it :)  I challenge you all to scrap the not so nice moments every now and then so that your scrapbooks reflect your real life, as it really is!  Please share with us your creations in our Little Red Gallery.

Nikki's LRS Design, Sept

The Sept kit at LRS is gorgeous! It is filled with so many American Craft goodies. I used mostly all kit supplies on this layout, everything but the ink and yellow spray :) This kit is full of embellishments you can layer on a layout or card.

Here is my layout...

First project using the fabulous LRS September kit!!

You've got to get this kit!!  The September LRS kit features the Amy Tangerine "Cut & Paste" line and it is truly one of the easiest line's I've ever worked with.  The papers coordinated so well with the embellishments that Sara picked to go with this kit--before I knew it, I had 4 layouts done!

Here is my first project...

A little bit of stitching, some paper and embellishment layering, and voila...a quick, easy layout!

Stay tuned for my next three layouts to be posted next weekend and don't forget to stop by the store and pick up one of these kits before they are all gone.  You can find it here.

Thanks for stopping by!

I love that green paper so much, so I decided to cut a border of it for my layout and pop dot it up like a 3 dimensional frame.  The speech bubbles just made journaling SO easy and the layout just flew together so easily!

Of course it helps that Sara picks amazing embellishments each month...she is SO good at that!  Sara has some BIG news up her sleeve that you aren't going to want to miss...so be sure to watch for her announcement!  As for this month's kit..it will go fast...so go grab yours up!

Shoes - Layout Tutorial using September 2013 Kit

Hi Sara here with a tutorial on how I crated my "Shoes" layout using the September kit.

Items Needed:
* LRS September 2013 Kit
* Water Color Paints (I used Loew-Cornell Simply Art Paints - Love Them!!)
* Stencil
* Thick Gesso (or Modeling Paste)
* Basic Scrapbook Tools

1) Hand cut a wavy border around the "Envelope" paper.
2) Distress the Edges.
3) Machine or hand stictch a border around the page about 1" from the edges.

4) Spread and splatter some water color in the center of the page.  First apply some very diluted water color paint and then gradually add more concentrated color.  Be sure to let each layer of color dry a little before adding another color.

5) With the photo placement in mind turn the page so the water color splatter is facing in the direction you like, then add some stencil prints using thick gesso or modeling paste.  Allow gesso or modeling paste to dry completely.

6) While the gesso or modeling paste is drying, take the foam alphabets and spell out your title on a craft sheet.  Be sure you place your alphas completely flat on the craft sheet so water won't get underneath.  Dilute some water color so the color is very transulcent (I used blue) and paint all of the letters.  Then add more water color to the mix to make it darker and paint the bottom section of the alphabets.   Then add a lighter hue of water color to the mix (I used green) and paint the middle section of the alphas.  Allow the alphas to dry then add one more coat of the dark blue water color mix to the bottom of the alphabets and allow to dry.

7) Cut a few strips of pattern paper and adhere them across the page as shown.

8) With the photo placement in mind, layer a tag and several of the die cut pieces as shown.

9) Because the damp water color makes the pattern paper a little crinckly, I adhered my page to a sheet of white cardstock, but this is optinal.  Then add your photo, a few more piecesof pattern paper tucked here and there and embellish as desired.

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial.  Thanks for taking a look and have a great weekend.

Have You Tried Out Any New Techniques Lately?

Hi Sara here, wanted to share with you a couple of layouts I made last week while waiting for the kit products to come in.  My first layout is a layout I created using the November 2012 kit.  I just love Bo Bunny papers.  I was inspired to create the layout when I saw a layout created on one of the big scrappy sites where the user had used Tim Holtz Acrylic Glaze on her layout to create what she called baubles. I first started with small flat circles, then started creating dots and then realized I could acutally make rain drop shapes on my layout.  I really had fun trying out this new techinque.

My second layout I created becuase I simply wanted to play with some new mists that I bought.  I also had fun using some thick gesso with a stencil; I usually use modeling paste.  I found out I really like using the thick gesso with my stencils.

I hope you find some time this week to try out a new technique or two.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek.

Sara's August 2013 Kit Designs

Hi Sara here, I'm sharing with you today my last projects made using the August 2013 kit.  The first layout is one I created with photos of the cruise my kids went on last year.  I didn't want to create a two page spread, so I picked out a few of my favorite photos and created a collage of them and printed them on a 4"X6" photo sheet.    I feel like this kept the layout from being too photo heavy, but at the same time the photos tell the whole story about the trip.

The next layout I have to show is a layout I created about my daughter.  My daughter is "according to her" the biggest Taylor Swift fan out there, so when the Taylor Swift came to town my daughter was going to go one way or another.  She tried to order tickets online, but the show sold in in about 5 minutes.  So when the radio station started giving them away, my daughter called in every day for 5 days in a row.  So you can imagine how happy and excited she was when she actually the "right" caller and won two tickets to the concert!   She truly was on "Cloud 9".

Next up is a Project Life sample page.  These papers are so bright and the sticker sheet is perfect to make the cards for your PL spread.

And the last project that I want to share with you today is a card I made, I just love those little transparecy houses.

I hope one of these projects inspires you to create something fun today.

August Kit Projects!

Tammy here, sharing the remainder of my August kit projects with you...

For this first layout, I let the patterned paper do most of the work for me by using Fancy Pants "Sensational".  Typically, I don't use these types of patterned papers because I find them difficult to work with but this layout came together really easy and I ended up loving how it turned out.

Layout number two is almost completely pink...quite unusual for me since I only have boys...but let me tell you, I sure do love scrapping with pink!

Lisa wasn't kidding when she said the Luxe rub-on's go on like butter.  I'm in love.  The silver hearts are a little difficult to see against the pink background but they are there and they are super fun.

Thanks for letting me share my projects and don't forget to stop by the store and pick up a kit today!

6 photos? No problem!

Happy Saturday!  Lisa here, sharing another August kit layout with you.

Today I'm sharing a layout I created with 6 photos and lots of story to tell...the classic kind of event based scrapbooking that I usually dread because I dislike 2 page layouts.  This particular layout was about my daughter and niece's shared graduation party and I also wanted to include the invitation so I had my work cut out for me!  I ended up printing my photos all horizontally in wallet size and decided to create a little pocket with part of the invitation.  In the pocket are two journaling cards filled with the story and the rest of the invitation.  I love how lining up the wallets at the top left me room at the bottom for a large title and the journaling pocket.

Pop dots helped to lift the title off the page and move the eye through all the pictures.  The final touch for me was actually the quote at the bottom of the page.  "Out of all the moments in my life, the one's I've spent with you are my most favorite."  Because Maddie and Ilana are the same age, they not only started pre-school together (the front of the invitation had that photo of them) but they shared this party and so many other life events.  It was too perfect to not include.  I pretty much created the entire layout just so I could use that title in this way.  Sometimes the paper provides you with direction for the layout...and in this case, that was definitely true!!  Hope I've inspired you to try scrapping an event with many photos and journaling- on one page!!  Be sure to share your layout with us on our Facebook page if you do!

August kit love...

I'm lovin' the August kit featuring the "What a Wonderful Day" line from Fancy Pants.  Not only is it wonderful for girlie layouts but it works great for boy layouts too!

Today I'm sharing the first of my projects using the kit.  I wanted to give the following layout a vintage feel to match my photo as it was taken in Virginia City, Nevada--a historic mining town that we love to visit. I first started by adding a light coat of Mod Podge to random areas of the white card stock and then added Tim Holtz tissue paper and dried it carefully with my heat gun.  Once dry, I misted and splattered it to give it a nice texture.  The rest is just some fun layering with the Maya Road transparencies, and "Wonderful Day" stickers and ephemera.

I think what I love the most about this particular kit are the cork shapes and cork patterned paper.  It's so much fun! Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to visit the store and pick up a kit today!

Sara's August Kit Project and Stencil Challenge

Hi Sara here, I created this layout with the Little Red Scrapbook August 2013 kit.

I created the heart shape on the background of my layout using the Prima Grunge Net stencil (one of the Aug Kit extras).  I simply cut a heart shape out of the center of some paper towels placed it on the top of the stencil and sprayed some lovely Maya Road gold metallic mist (from a previous LRS kit from many months ago) and created the shimmery heart design on my background for my layout.
