Scraps from my Table

Hi Sara here, while in the process of cleaning up my scrappy space to make room to play with next month's kit, I decided to make a couple of more projects using the scraps left on my table from the July kit.

First I made this "Hi" card, and

then I made this cute little tag.  It may be hard to tell, but the butterfly was made with a scrap piece of paper I punched a butterfly out of and I just backed it with a piece of a red feather.  It really looks soft and sweet in real life.  The crown is simply a section of doily I had cut out of the pattern paper.  I was going to throw it out and realized it made a sweet little crown.  It's adhered a little to low on the tag, but the glue stuck, so there's no taking it off.  :)

What can you make with the scraps left on your table?  I would love to see your projects.

Tammy's July Kit Projects

Hi there, Tammy here to share my July kit projects!!  I sure loved working with this month's kit featuring Echo Park Paper Co.'s "Beautiful Life" Line-- and did I tell you about all of the amazing embellishments?  Feathers, journaling cards, and wooden rulers, oh my!

My first project is of my two youngest sons who are best buddies.  I wanted to show you the versatility of the kit by creating a masculine layout with it!

Here's the second...a very girlie layout!

And one of my BFF scrapping buddies on our yearly trip to the Scrapbook Manor in Walworth, WI.  Love that place and love that it's in a central location so we can all meet in the middle!

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share my creations with you!  Please stop by the Little Red Scrapbook store and pick up the July kit today!

July Kit Projects

Last year I jumped onto the Project Life bandwagon full steam ahead.  I kept it up all year and promised myself that I wouldn't buy anything new for the project, since I have so many older bits of kits and such that I felt I could use...and I did it!  I used up many of my older Little Red kits, loving the ability to just pull a kit out and create a two page spread that worked so well together!  Because I did a weekly spread, I had at least 52 spreads to do...many times, more, since I had inserts etc for many weeks.  But this year, I decided to do Project Life a little differently and I'm approaching it monthly instead of weekly.  And admittedly, I've bought new supplies to keep my head in the game. ;)
I decided to approach May differently than any other month so far and I've created two page spreads for each of my children.  They all had such busy months that it was hard to combine them and I felt I could tell the stories better by child than in my typical chronological way.  So here is my May spread for Jillian...first up, the left side:
there is journaling hidden inside the little fold out in the middle:
and the right side of the spread:
More hidden journaling inside the cellophane pocket, some tucked into the envelope and held in with the cute little paper clip.  I've printed out an Instagram post of my daughter's and stole pictures from her Twitter, too!  If you click on the photo to make it bigger, you will see that I've added some embellishments on top of the page protector, too, to keep the project from feeling too sterile. I do keep this project easy for myself and try not to make each little bit an art project because for me, Project Life is better done than not. :)

Last up is another layout from me.  Other than the twine and a couple of buttons it's all kit.

So there are my designs for July..watch all weekend for more designs from our DT members!

July Sketch Challenge

Today we are bringing back our Monthly Sketch Challenge!!  I selected this brand new Page Maps sketch for our challenge:

Image

I used the July Kit, featuring Echo Park, to create my layout about my daughter earning her Bronze Award in scouting.

As you can see, I changed the size of my photos to work for me, but the sketch still worked well!  Everything is from the kit except the twine and the alpha, which was from a past kit. We would love to see what you create with the sketch, too.  It's simple to upload to our online GALLERY , and be sure to check out the DT Galleries, too, for Kit Inspiration!

Happy 4th of July!

Hi Sara here, I want to wish everyone a safe, relaxing and enjoyable Fourth of July.  I hope everyone takes a few minutes to remember all of our Mility men and women on this our Independence Day.

I created this 4th of July tag decoration using the July 2013 kit, a few of the July stamp kit extras, and items from my stash (star sequins, paper roses, mini paper clips and rhinestones).  It was very fun and easy to create, see directions below:

1,  Cut 3 strips of cardstock measuring 3" X 8 1/2".  Trim off the top two corners of each strip to create tags.
2) Cover each of the tags with book paper.  Distress, ink the edges and punch a hole at the top.
3) Cut 3 strips of pattern paper 2 1/2" X 7",  round the corners.  Distress, ink the edges and adhere one strip to each of the tags as shown.
4) Stamp 3 doll images on white smooth cardstock and decorate each as desired. I stamped the doll images on different pattern paper prints, then fussy cut the outfits and paper pieced the outfits onto the dolls.  I colored the hair and skin with Prismacolor colored pencils.
5) Adhere the finished doll pieces to the front of the tags.
6)  Decorate the tags as desired.
7) Attach the 3 tags together, using washi tape at the seams on the backside of the tags.
8) Cut a section of banner from "banners" paper and add alphabet stickers and attach to the tags as shown.
Enjoy!!

Note: The paper bows on the tops of the tags were made using a pattern I hand made, I will try to clean up the pattern and share it with you all soon.
